Alentejo House T2 - Cabeça Gorda
Independent house, located in a typical village street, in a central area of Cabeça Gorda, on a wide and open public road, with 4 rooms and two entrances, one of which is on the main road and the other on the corresponding lane.
The house is classified as T2, has two bedrooms, one of which has a window to the outside and the other to the inside. You enter through a large hall, continuing through a circulation area (corridor), to a large kitchen/living room, which also has a storage area. It extends to another smaller kitchen, with a fireplace, and on the opposite side of the circulation area there is a large bathroom with bathtub.
At the end of the circulation area you come across a large backyard, with fruit trees and cultivation area, with this yard having access to an exit through a small door in the lane opposite the main street.
The old roof, with Portuguese tiles, is preserved, and there are no traces of infiltration throughout the house, with part of it ceilings false ones in the rooms and another part with old wooden slats, in the circulation area and kitchens.
The village of Cabeça Gorda is one of the parishes in the municipality of Beja, and has its own dynamic. It is located 12 km/south of Beja, and about a 20-minute drive from the county seat.
Its history dates back to the time of the Arab occupation. Its official name is Freguesia de Nossa Senhora da Conceição da Rocha, but the name that became popular is Cabeça Gorda. Although located in a mainly rural environment, in recent decades it has assumed an economic and cultural dynamic centered on the territory, as it has around 300 hectares of cork oak forests, which are used and enhanced in the authenticity of their roots in traditions such as crafts, gastronomy, local accommodation, outdoor sports and especially cultural events such as the Silarca (mushroom) Festival.
